GeoCart'2008

Geospatial Vision: New Dimensions in Cartography
1-3 September 2008, The University of Auckland, Auckland

As the world embraces geospatial technologies with increasing enthusiasm the quantity, quality, currency and relevance of spatial information is transforming the way we can visualise our worlds. How can cartography meet the challenges of an emerging geospatial society that inhabits a dramatically changing world...?

GeoCart'2006

Going Global; Mapping New Zealand's Trajectory
4-6 September 2006, The University of Auckland, Auckland

The rise of virtual globes on the web has given globalism a new meaning, and is spearheading a cartographic environment where integration and innovation can thrive to merge the local and global in exotic new ways. New Zealand, with its genuine drive for innovation, is well positioned to take advantage of these developments and chart its own trajectory in pursuit of new cartographies for the 21st century.

The Conference sessions addressed themes concerning the links between global and local environments through creative application of modern cartographic tools and strategies, such as virtual reality, Internet and interactive mapping, location-based mapping, geovisualisation, 3D environments, geospatial data standards and cartographic modelling.

GeoCart'2003

Accessible New Zealand; Capitalising on Contemporary Technologies
12-14 February 2003, Wairakei Resort, Taupo

The theme of GeoCart'2003 focussed on the rapidly expanding possibilities in accessing and shaping spatial information through the recent technological advances, particularly in the area of Internet mapping and interactive visualisations. Key sessions addressed themes concerning modern cartography, such as hypermaps, virtual reality, Internet and interactive mapping, geovisualisation, 3D environments and geo-computation.

GeoCart'2001

Visualising New Zealand in the New Data Environment
30 April - 2 May 2001, Wairakei Resort, Taupo

The theme of GeoCart'2001 recognised the growing close linkage between the new spatial information environment and developments in modern cartography, in particular the visualisation of spatial data. Key sessions addressed themes that link the growth of dynamic and infrastructural datasets with modern cartographic fields such as interactive mapping and visualisation, radical cartography, virtual reality, Internet mapping and geo-computation.
