Children's Map Competition now open

…Is a mapping competition run by the New Zealand Cartographical Society (NZCS) on behalf of the International Cartographic Association (ICA). Prizes include posters, NZ chart series, wall maps, books, and a once-in-a-lifetime experience for 2 lucky winners. Open to all children under 16 yrs – 4 age categories (under 6yrs, 9-12yrs & 13-15yrs)

Theme: “My Place In Today’s World”                Entries due in 28th March 2013

·       Winners of the NZ competition will receive an individual prize and a prize for their school, then winning entries will be forwarded to the ICA for international judging.

The fifth National Cartographic Conference GeoCart'2010 and the first ICA Symposium on Cartography for Australasia and Oceania ran at The University of Auckland, New Zealand, 1-3 September 2010.

The Conference is endorsed by the International Cartographic Association (ICA).

Keynote Speakers included:

  • Manfred Buchroithner, TU Dresden, Germany
  • David Crossman, Geospatial Intelligence Organisation, NZ Defence Force, New Zealand

There will be a book associated with the conference, collating the best papers as reviewed by an international scientific programme committee and published in Springer’s Lecture Notes in Geoinformation and Cartography series. Professional papers, Posters and other submissions will be collated in the conference proceedings.
