GeoCart'2006 National Cartographic Conference
4-6 September 2006, The University of Auckland, Auckland

The theme of GeoCart'2006 is Going Global: Mapping New Zealand's Trajectory. The rise of virtual globes on the web has given globalism a new meaning, and is spearheading a cartographic environment where integration and innovation can thrive to merge the local and global in exotic new ways. New Zealand, with its genuine drive for innovation, is well positioned to take advantage of these developments and chart its own trajectory in pursuit of new cartographies for the 21st century.

The Conference sessions will address themes concerning the links between global and local environments through creative application of modern cartographic tools and strategies, such as virtual reality, Internet and interactive mapping, location-based mapping, geovisualisation, 3D environments, geospatial data standards and cartographic modelling.
